Learn More About the Benefits of Aetna Dental Insurance

Your dentist makes treatment affordable by being in-network with Aetna

Protecting your oral health at home is the best way to prevent dental issues, but your hygiene routine is only one part of equation. The American Dental Association recommends visiting your dentist for a routine cleaning and exam every six months to keep your teeth and gums in excellent health all year long.

The great news is that with Aetna dental insurance, you can rely on high-quality preventive care from your Aetna dentist in San Antonio, all for an affordable cost for you and your family.

Aetna Coverage Availability & Fees

Your Aetna dental insurance can make oral health care more affordable for the whole family

Aetna has earned a reputation as a leader in providing comprehensive dental plans for individuals and families. By paying for your monthly premiums, you can easily access a nationwide network of dental professionals. You can also benefit from reduced rates for common treatments that fall outside of the scope of preventive care.

Though each plan differs by individual patient, most policies include:

  • 100% coverage for preventive services.
  • 80% coverage for minor restorative services.
  • 50% coverage for major restorative services.

Aetna’s dental plans place the focus on preventive care to stop common oral health problems like tooth decay and gum disease before they happen. This allows you to preserve your natural smile and lower your risk of requiring costly treatment later. In fact, research has shown that for every $1 spent on preventive care, you can save $50 on emergency and restorative care later.

With Aetna dental insurance, you can visit your dentist every six months for a check-up and cleaning. Depending on your individual plan, a copay may apply. If your dentist notices any problems, you can have it treated quickly without worrying about paying a large bill.

Once you have met your deductible, you can use your annual allowance to lower your out-of-pocket expenses for common restorative treatments such as fillings, periodontal disease treatment, or root canals.

Aetna recommends choosing a dentist who is “in-network” to enjoy more coverage at the time of services. They have done the leg work of pre-negotiating rates with certain dental practices to help reduce the cost of care to their subscribers. However, you can still choose an out-of-network dentist. In this situation you can still use your coverage, but you’ll have to pay the difference between the office fees and your policy’s allowable amount.

We happily accept both in-network and out-of-network patients. Furthermore, we will proudly help you maximize your annual benefits before they expire at the end of the year. On average, less than 34 percent of Americans exceed their annual limits. Because you’re not reimbursed for your premiums or deductible if you don’t maximize your allowance, you would otherwise lose that money at the end of the year.  We understand that dental insurance can be overwhelming, and we’re here to help you navigate your coverage and save your hard-earned money!
